Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is CBD?

CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol. Historically, the medicinal benefits of CBD were sourced from marijuana. Today, CBD and its medicinal benefits are primarily sourced from hemp. A hemp derived, CBD extract directly benefits the brain and immune system and can provide a natural anti-anxiety, antiepileptic and antipsychotic effect. Cannabis research has identified CBD, other cannabinoids, and terpenes to collectively produce the “entourage effect.” This physical effect is the result of these natural elements being utilized by the human body to assist in maintaining stasis; conclusively, the relationship between the human body and CBD, cannabinoids, and terpenes is biologically direct and necessary for optimum health.

2. What is the difference between Hemp Oil and CBD OIL/EXTRACT?

Hemp oil is a broad term that is used to describe any oil sourced from any part of the hemp plant without any consideration for the oil contents. Today, it’s safe to assume that “hemp oil or hemp seed oil” is sourced from the seeds and stalks of the plant which contain a very small amount of CBD, if any. CBD oil or CBD hemp extract is sourced from the flowering tops of the plants which contain the most robust, natural concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes providing the most measurable therapeutic and health benefits.

3. Is hemp the same as marijuana?

While sharing the Cannabis genus (a sub-family classification), hemp and marijuana are two very distinct plant species with shared and varying cannabidiol compounds and benefits. An automotive parallel can further portray the relationship between genus and species. The genus would be Ford (cannabis); examples of species being car or truck (hemp or marijuana). However, marijuana is not federally legal and continues to be listed as a Schedule 1, controlled substance. However, the 2018 Agricultural Appropriations Act removed hemp from the DEA’s Schedule 1, controlled substance list; opened up interstate commerce and provided federal guidance for interstate regulation and commercialization. Hemp products can contain up to 0.3% THC (full spectrum; see question #13) by federal law; and therefore, are 100% legal in all 50 states.

4. Why should I use CBD sourced from hemp extract?
Hemp cultivated for its medicinal value can have higher concentrations of cannabinoids and CBD over marijuana and even other hemp strains that are grown for true industrial use. The higher the levels of certain cannabinoids and terpenes, the greater the potential “entourage effect” (see question #5). The list of medicinal and therapeutic benefits contributed by CBD continues to increase as more research is conducted and completed. CBD has been shown to remedy, treat, and manage a variety of ailments, conditions, discomforts, and numerous disorders by providing antiemetic (nausea/vomiting), anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-tumoral/anti-cancer, anxiolytic/antidepressant effects. Specific examples include acne, arthritis, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Prion/Mad Cow Disease, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Schizophrenia, Crohn’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and insomnia. Additionally, CBD can assist as a digestive aid stimulating appetite and easing nausea. CBD is known to act quickly without producing any side effects or withdrawal symptoms. While it has increasingly become a sustainable option over prescription drugs, it continues to astound the medical and research community by providing a plethora of common health benefits as well as a wide therapeutic value that has yet to be fully realized.
5. What is the Entourage Effect?
This is a proposed mechanism in which cannabinoids act synergistically to modulate the overall chemical relationship of the plant’s benefit in the human body’s utilization to maintain stasis.
6. How does CBD affect the human body?

The human body is comprised of many systems. Working with the body’s endocrine system is the endocannabinoid system. Together, they maintain stasis of the body. Numerous effects of the endocannabinoid system in the human body continue to be researched and identified; however, research has found that CBD directly benefits the brain and immune system and is responsible for numerous physiological and mental processes that occur naturally within the body. This life-sustaining system is most benefitted by plant-derived cannabidiol rather than any synthetic compound. (Since all mammals, fish, birds, and reptiles have an endocannabinoid system, CBD can help them, too! Inquire about our CBD pet products).

7. How is your product different from other CBDs? Why should I buy yours?

Our product quality is driven by five elements that uniquely distinguish our terpene powered CBD products – 1. Plant genetics, 2. Organic farming practices (see question #9),
3. Extraction method, 4. Applied terpene science (see question #11), and 5. The drive behind our level of due diligence. While searching for a CBD product that we ourselves and our families could trust, we comprised the profile of the ultimate CBD product that could be given to my ailing mother without hesitation. Quality benchmarks were formed that have now become the founding principles of our terpene powered tinctures. These benchmarks include: an extract that is federally legal, transparent cultivation of medicinal level CBD hemp genetics, organic farming processes, non-GMO, THC/solvent/metals-free, ACTIVE mgs of CBD, and cultivated in the United States. Unfortunately, our local search only yielded first-to-market, inferior products from synthetic isolate CBD (not plant-derived) and zero transparency. After finding no such local offering, we began to search for a premium CBD that matched our personal criteria. Our search led us to Colorado! There we formed a partnership with a farm that is registered and compliant with the guidelines established by the state of Colorado and the 2014 U.S. Farm Bill to grow, cultivate, harvest, and produce our market-leading organic raw, broad spectrum, medicinal level, CBD-rich hemp extract – the foundation of our CBD-rich product line. Our focus and unwillingness to accept nothing less than the best allows us to offer a truly measurable CBD experience that delivers.

8. What makes your plant genetics different from other CBD brands?

Our farm spent nearly a decade genetically crossbreeding multiple varieties of high CBD cannabis strains; ultimately, creating a proprietary, hybrid strain that is 60/40 sativa dominant. This strain has been registered with the Colorado Department of Agriculture as industrial hemp as the strain naturally produces less than .3% THC in plant form. Unlike CBD sourced from cannabis sativa L. genetics, our terpene powered CBD products provide the widest potential benefit; prolonged use of our products can produce an indica-like experience.

9. What does organic farming practices mean?

Our farm follows the same farming practices that “certified organic” farms follow. This would include notables such as: clean soil free from metals, use of organic pesticides and fertilizers, and hand-harvested crops.

10. How is your CBD extracted?
To protect and maximize our extract’s “entourage effect” (see question #5) and efficacy, our farm developed a proprietary method of Super Critical CO2 that ensures our extract not only maintains a full plant profile but is unequivocally clean of trace elements. Inferior methods such as butane (BHO), solvent (alcohol), & simpler CO2 extraction methods can leave behind trace element values, and comparatively, provide a tainted and weaker CBD extract. This reliance ensures that we consistently achieve an extract that retains as much of the natural plant profile providing the most pure, potent, and robust broad spectrum extract available. Knowing the CBD extraction method is imperative to building a sustainable and healthy supplement regimen.
11. What is a terpene?

A terpene is an individual hydrocarbon found in the essential oils of plants. Collectively in specific ratios & amounts, this combination produces the smell and taste profile of a plant, fruit, vegetable, or even an essential oil profile (lavender, thyme, rosemary, etc.). Simply put, it’s mother nature’s plant signature that is individually experienced by either smell, taste, or its natural toxicology to the human body. Furthermore, science has identified, acknowledged, and documented numerous terpenes along with their value and relationship to the human body. Our application of terpene science is the driver of our targeted, CBD tincture formulas known to produce outcomes that most CBD products cannot.

12. What does ACTIVE CBD mean?

Active CBD is a true indicator of medicinal-level CBD. ACTIVE denotes the CBD ingredient as having been directly plant-derived and implemented as a raw extract ingredient rather than being converted to a synthetic, concentrated compound (isolate) or infused solution.

13. What is the difference between Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum hemp CBD products?
Full spectrum infers that, at the testing sample size, the hemp extract contains all other naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes with the THC value being no greater than 0.3% as allowed by federal law. Broad spectrum, hemp CBD extract contains all natural occurring cannabinoids and terpenes but carries a 0.0%THC value. Where most CBD tinctures are a base oil and hemp extract (providing limited efficacy), all our terpene powered CBD products are anchored by our broad spectrum, hemp CBD extract and powered by applied terpene science (see question #11) which provides a targeted benefit with greater efficacy over traditional CBD tinctures.
14. What is the difference between 250 mg, 500 mg, 750mg, & 1000 mg?

The dosage amounts identify the tangible amount of ACTIVE CBD in the product (i.e. Motrin is available by prescription in various strengths – 200mg, 400mg, & 800mg). This is a volume measurement not to be confused with potency.

15. Is it legal?

Our terpene (see question # 11) powered, CBD-rich hemp extract products are 50 state legal and, furthermore, protected by the 2018 Agricultural Improvement Act that removed hemp from Schedule I of the list of Controlled Substances Act further allowing the commodity for interstate commerce. The legality of CBD truly lies in the origination of the CBD oil (cannabidiol). CBD can be derived from two distinct sources which is where the bulk of confusion over legality lies. If the plant being sourced for CBD cultivation produces greater than the 0.3% THC federal limit, that plant is considered marijuana and federally illegal including the CBD. CBD oil can also be derived from the industrial hemp plant, which according to Section 7606 of the 2014 Farm Bill defines industrial hemp as “the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.” 1 So, to avoid confusion and help educate consumers, we do not sell CBD oil sourced from marijuana. We sell CBD-rich hemp extract oil, which as with any industrial hemp product, is legal in all 50 states.

16. Can I drive if I have taken CBD?

CBD can have an individual effect with differences in variance, intensity, and duration. Several factors one could expect to consider are age, gender, weight, personal metabolism, body fat, and dosage size. One should always exercise caution and common sense when operating and/or driving equipment, automobiles, etc.

17. Can I drink alcohol with CBD?
Combining nutraceutical supplements and alcohol are never advised.
18. Does CBD usage interfere with my prescriptions?
There is no documented data to support any known interferences with CBD and prescriptions; however, consult with your doctor or pharmacist to eliminate any concerns.
19. If it’s not illegal, is there a recommended age for use?
We recommend keeping our products out of the direct reach of children. Parents, please consult your pediatrician with direct questions/concerns that are specific to your child.
20. Do I need a medical “permission” card like you need for marijuana?
While our terpene powered, CBD products are of medicinal quality, there is NO need for any medical prescription to attain and/or use any of our 0.0% THC CBD-rich hemp extract products.
21. Can I pass a urine test?

Put simply, a consumer who reasonably uses high-quality, scientifically vetted hemp-based, broad spectrum, 0.0% THC CBD products at the standard serving size is highly unlikely to test positive for THC and/or THC-COOH by a urine test. However, it’s important to be cognizant that extremely high doses may result in a positive urine screen (that would subsequently be shown to be false via GC/MS). Ultimately, we recommend consumers need to be fully informed of the specific regulations posed by their employers and adjust their consumption of cannabinoid products accordingly.

22. How much do I take?

The right dose of our terpene powered CBD tinctures may vary from person to person due to physical makeup, metabolism, and toxicology; therefore, outcomes and reaction times can vary. When first dosing, it’s best to start with the smallest dose possible. Begin with two droplets under the tongue and hold for 30 seconds. Assess every 20 to 30 minutes and repeat as necessary until the desired outcome is achieved. The sum of droplets will become one’s “standard” dose. Due to the physical limit of liquid that one can hold under the tongue, should one require 10 or more droplets to achieve the desired outcome, it’s recommended to choose a higher volume tincture. As with any new product, it is important to become familiar with how your body responds to CBD before increasing the dosage. Generally speaking, larger individuals may prefer a higher dose of CBD than smaller people. With CBD, you can easily scale up just a few milligrams at a time to meet your personal needs. Our droppers allow for micro dosing by delivering a .05mL droplet; 20 droplets equal 1mL. If you have a medical condition, always consult with a healthcare professional before consuming CBD as they can help determine how much one should not exceed daily based upon other medical factors.

23. What can I expect to experience when taking CBD?
Feelings of calmness, relaxed demeanor, diminished thought-noise (brain-break), and muscle-relaxation can be a result of using our terpene powered CBD tinctures; there is NO psychoactive experience. Other tangible results of CBD use include decreased muscle spasticity; decreased muscle, tendon, ligament, soft tissue inflammation, less anxiety, and improved sleep quality.
24. Is CBD or any of your ingredients addictive?
No, cannabinoids and/or terpenes are not addictive.
25. Are ANY of your CBD products unsafe?
Due to 0.0% THC, there is no psychoactive experience. Additionally, we do not recommend our MCT-based (coconut oil) tinctures for Type 1 diabetics or consumers with nut allergies. MCT has been known to affect ketone levels; we recommend consulting your doctor for further guidance.
26. Can I give CBD products to my cat and dog?
While we do recommend and offer broad spectrum (see question #13) products for dogs; for cats, we recommend isolate driven CBD products for a safe and healthy complement to a well-rounded diet.
